The event began being prepared at the beginning of 2019. A team of fifteen people worked on its intensive preparation.
This event did not escape the pandemic either and in June 2021, the Organizing Committee decided to change its format from purely full-time to hybrid. The big challenge was to come up with a solution that would cover the requirements of a five-day conference with fifteen thematic areas, where the percentage of abstracts received was less than 50%.
The whole event took place in Brno. The presence and broadcasting of the virtual platform took place in two places. On Monday, August 30, 2021, it was broadcasted from the Faculty of Information Technologies at Brno University of Technology and the other days from the International Hotel Brno.
The virtual part took place on the gCon platform, where 4 main halls were streamed live directly from Brno and the rest of the event took place in 104 virtual sections. A total of 1,676 educational hours were broadcasted.
For participants who arrived in person in Brno, among other things, 4 social events were waiting for them. The Welcome Reception took place at the International Hotel Brno. On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, two social events took place. One was intended for students and took place in the Poupě Brewery House. The second was intended for the reviewers and took place in the historic premises of the Old Town Hall, where Marian Friedel and colleagues performed. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Old Town Hall Tower and enjoy the evening view of Brno. On Thursday, September 2, 2021, the Banquet took place in the Governor’s Palace of the Moravian Gallery in Brno. Participants could enjoy the performance of the folk ensemble Javorník and take a photo in the photo corner.
This event was attended by over 360 participants in person and 1,640 participants through a virtual platform with a total of 90 countries combined.
The congress was supported by 24 corporate partners, 1,100 international speakers gave lectures, of which 4 were keynote speakers, 4 survey sessions and 6 tutorials took place.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies were broadcasted live from the main hall. Violinist Milan Pala and his wife pianist Katarina Palová performed at the Opening Ceremony. During the Closing Ceremony, the Moravská Žesta group was introduced.
A team of a total of 30 people took care of their satisfaction and the smooth running of the event.
