IFSO-EC 2020 Virtual Conference
Due to the continuing situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of stricter measures, it was clear that it would not be possible to organize the congress according to the original plan as a physical event. The aim was to find a suitable format and platform for a virtual congress, which would include a virtual library, an exhibition, and which would allow participants a certain degree of interaction.
Most of the participants and lecturers were from abroad, so there was no need to persuade the client or the committee about the change of the congress into a virtual form. From the beginning, their approach was very positive.
The one-day virtual conference ran on our tailor-made platform. Twenty-nine speakers pre-recorded their presentations, thus avoiding possible technical problems with live input. At the end of the lectures, a live discussion was prepared for the participants and speakers.
The programme was divided into 8 sections – introductory, concluding, 3 plenary and 3 parallel sections. The programme also included 3 company symposia.
The promotion of the event, with the aim to attract more participants, took place through newsletters and web banners on the websites of events with a similar focus.
The event was organized by our seven-member team consisting of a project manager, an assistant, an exhibition coordinator, a sponsorship manager, a programme coordinator, a technical manager and a registration coordinator.
The congress was attended by 209 participants from 40 countries. An online library with 69 e-posters and 14 video presentations was prepared for the participants. 8 partners took part in the virtual exhibition.
