CESN-CASN 2024: Meeting of Nephrology Experts in the Historic Center of Prague

On December 13 and 14, 2024, 116 experts gathered at the Zenwork building, part of Palác Ara in the historic center of Prague, for the 6th Central European Symposium on Nephrology & 10th Czech-Austrian Symposium on Nephrology (CESN-CASN 2024).

The event, supported by seven partners and featuring several exhibitors, continued the tradition established in 2011 with the aim of exchanging the latest knowledge in clinical nephrology, kidney transplantation, and translational science.

CESN-CASN has a rich history of contributions to nephrology. At this event, the first European international paired kidney exchange program from living donors between the Czech Republic and Austria was created. Another significant outcome was the introduction of molecular microscopy for the routine evaluation of complicated transplanted biopsies in both countries. In addition, the renoprotective properties of SGLT2 inhibitors were first introduced at these symposia before their official publication.

The symposium program covered a wide range of specialized topics, with lectures and discussions focusing on infections, the latest clinical studies, humoral rejection (ABMR), chronic kidney disease (CKD), IgA nephropathy, and innovations in nephrology.

The event also included a networking evening held on December 13 at the “W” Restaurant & Whiskey Bar, where participants had the opportunity for informal meetings and establishing new connections.

CESN-CASN 2024 once again confirmed its reputation as a significant event in the field of nephrology and transplantation, providing a platform for expert knowledge exchange and support for international collaboration.

A big thank you goes to the organizing team, led by project manager Marcela Rajtorová, who ensured the smooth execution and high standard of the entire event.

We thank everyone involved in the preparations and look forward to the next edition!
