From 30 October to 2 November 2024, the 37th World Congress of Internal Medicine (WCIM 2024) took place in Prague, attracting thousands of leading experts from around the world. The prestigious Prague Congress Centre, one of the largest and most technologically advanced facilities in Europe, provided an ideal setting for discussing the latest medical knowledge and research.
The congress focused on the current challenges of internal medicine, with key topics including cardiology, metabolic diseases, endocrinology, nephrology, hepatology, pneumology and others. The scientific program consisted of four days of intensive lectures and interactive workshops. The expert workshops focused on improving clinical skills, including modern diagnostic methods and personalized treatment. Of particular interest was a session dedicated to Lipoprotein(a) testing, an important biomarker in cardiovascular risk assessment. Participants had the unique opportunity to undergo this test on-site.
In addition to the scientific program, the congress opening ceremony was also prepared on October 30, 2024. The opening ceremony included a lecture by renowned expert Dr. Behshad Behzadi, who has many years of experience in the application of technological innovations in healthcare. His lecture was titled “The Artificial Intelligence Revolution in Medicine” and highlighted the key role of AI in modern medicine, particularly in diagnostics and personalised treatment. The keynote speech was followed by an informal networking session with refreshments, which allowed participants to make new contacts and share experiences.
The event was held under the auspices of the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and the Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek, highlighting its importance on the global medical scene. The Congress welcomed more than 1,200 experts, two main partners and eight exhibitors. We were particularly pleased with the high participation of international delegates from countries such as the Philippines, Mexico and Indonesia. Prague was transformed into a world centre of internal medicine during these days.
We are grateful to the entire GUARANT International team for their meticulous organization, as well as to all the presenters, speakers, exhibitors and participants for their active participation.
