WONCA Europe 2024: The future of family medicine

The WONCA Europe 2024 conference is a prestigious event in the field of general medicine and primary care, which took place on 25-28 September in Dublin, a city with a rich history and cultural heritage. The main theme of this year’s conference, ‘The Changing Nature of Family Medicine – Cultivating the Future’, underlines the current challenges facing GPs and highlights the need to adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

The conference programme included a wide range of lectures, panel discussions and workshops focusing on innovations and new trends in general medicine. Key topics included the role of artificial intelligence in medicine, sustainability of healthcare, access to care for chronically ill patients and improving prevention. Leading experts in the field were featured, sharing their insights and perspectives on the challenges shaping the future of primary care.

One of the main objectives of the programme is to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing between clinicians from different countries so that together they can meet new challenges in patient care. Through interactive sessions and workshops, participants had the opportunity not only to listen to the lectures but also to engage in discussions and share their experiences in practice.

The social part of the conference included a gala dinner at the Guinness Storehouse with panoramic views of Dublin. The gala dinner allowed the participants to deepen their relationships and get to know the Irish cultural heritage.

The WONCA Europe 2024 conference is crucial to strengthening the role of general practice in Europe and presents a unique opportunity for professionals to share knowledge and work together to find solutions to ensure quality and accessible healthcare for all. We are delighted to once again be involved in the organisation of this important conference. We are pleased that 2,600 experts participated in the event and that it was supported by 37 exhibitors and 6 partners.

Finally, we would like to thank the entire organizing team led by Renata Somolova, whose efforts and careful preparation ensured the success of the event.
