Konference EFI 2024

The European Immunogenetics and Histocompatibility Conference (EFI 2024) was held in Geneva from 20 to 23 May this year. The conference was attended by 747 participants: physicians, scientists, students and other professionals in the field of immunogenetics and transplantation from all over the world. The venue was the Palexpo SA Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The opening of the conference took place in the evening and was chaired by Professor Jean Villard, followed by a gala cocktail.

The main topics of the conference were organ transplantation for highly sensitive patients, new therapies for acute leukemia, HLA immunogenetics and population genetics, live bone marrow and solid organ donation, as well as the topic of antigens and neoantigens. Overall, the conference offered 5 plenary sessions, 3 tutorial sessions, 6 symposia and 9 sessions devoted to abstracts. The program included a medal ceremony as well as a general assembly.

The social evening was held at the Domaine du Grand-Malagny, a cultural and historical heritage site of the city of Geneva, located in a beautiful garden overlooking the lake and Mont Blanc.

The traditional Tulip Charity Run, 5 km long, organised and sponsored by GenDx, was also part of the conference this year. It took place in the Parc Sarasin and 59 runners took part. The funds raised from the Tulip Run will support the Fondation Dr. Henri Dubois-Ferrière Dinu Lipatti.

The conference organizer supports sustainability, so an app was developed for the conference and a pocket program was printed to minimize the cost of printed materials.

The conference was supported by 11 sponsors and 5 exhibitors.

We would like to thank the European Federation of Immunogenetics (EFI), the local organising committee, the partners and exhibitors, the speakers and all participants and last but not least the entire GUARANT International project team led by Senior Project Manager Marcela Rajtorová.
