Prague hosted the EAPD 2023 event in May

At the beginning of May, an important event took place in our capital city – the 13th Interim Seminar and Guidelines Workshop of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (EAPD). The event took place on 5 and 6 May 2023 at Cubex Centrum Praha, which features a unique design inspired by Czech Cubism, which combined with modern technology makes the centre suitable for even the most demanding clients.

The main theme of the event was – “Medical aspects in Paediatric Dentistry. Antibiotics, cancer survivors – fissure sealants”. Related to this theme is the development of recommended practices, which are the outcome of the seminar and form the basis for evidence-based practice in paediatric dentistry.

With this important topic, the seminar attracted 270 paediatric dentists and other paediatric dentistry experts from a total of 38 countries, who had the opportunity to gain the latest knowledge on developments in the field.

The event programme consisted of expert lectures, workshops, or discussions. The first day of the conference started with a short welcome and introduction of the event, followed by the scientific programme. There were three plenary lectures in the morning, followed by 4 parallel lectures and 6 workshops in the afternoon.

On the evening of Friday 5 May, a gala dinner was held in a beautiful Art Nouveau building in the Municipal House restaurant, located right in the centre of Prague. The Municipal House is decorated with beautiful Art Nouveau artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and mosaics. Among the most important works of art are the mosaic on the facade of the building, which depicts the history of Prague, and the stained glass window in the Smetana Hall, which depicts an allegory of music. Modern Czech cuisine with Pilsner beer on tap was served for dinner. A performance by a piano soloist provided a pleasant atmosphere.

On the second day of the event, another keynote lecture, a panel discussion, selected presentations by young scientists, and a presentation of updated guidelines were prepared for participants. The seminar concluded with a closing ceremony and awards ceremony.

The seminar also enjoyed support from companies and other partners. The event was supported by 4 partners, including one media partner. A total of 6 exhibitors participated in the exhibition.

Finally, we would like to thank the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, all partners, and exhibitors. We would also like to thank all speakers and participants and last but not least our project team GUARANT International led by our project manager Anna Prazakova.
