In October 2001, we organized the IACC anti-corruption conference.

The conference took place in the Prague Congress Center with 1,500 delegates participating from all over the world. It not only included a rich social program, but also an interesting exhibition on anti-corruption, which took place in the lower part of Wenceslas Square.

I have one sad memory associated with this event. Before the conference began, there was the tragic terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. At that time, I was communicating intensively with American colleagues from this city and I experienced this disaster with them. I immediately wrote them to see if they were okay and I shared my condolences with them.

The conference eventually took place with the expected number of participants and it turned out well. However, the shadow of this tragedy was hanging over us throughout the event.
