The ESVO Meeting 2024 took place in Barcelona, Spain, from 3 to 6 October 2024. This annual meeting attracted veterinary ophthalmologists from across Europe to exchange the latest knowledge and advances in animal eye health care. The event was held at the NH Collection Constanza Hotel, which offered a comfortable and inspiring environment for all attendees.
The main topic of the scientific programme was Brachycephalic Ocular Syndrome. Attendees had the opportunity to watch lectures by leading experts in the field, including Dr. Marta Leiva, Dr. Lionel Sebbag and Dr. Stefan Kindler. These specialists shared their expertise and presented the latest methods for diagnosing and treating eye problems in animals.
In addition to the lectures, there were also hands-on workshops where attendees could explore surgical procedures for the treatment of brachycephalic syndrome and tear film quality assessment. These workshops were conducted by experienced professionals and provided valuable practical skills.
Participants enjoyed a rich social programme during the congress, including a gala dinner that created an opportunity for networking among professionals. The dinner was held at the Nubar Restaurant, with Mediterranean cuisine, located in a magnificent country house renovated in a modern style.
In addition to the professional programme, participants had the opportunity to explore the beauty of Barcelona, including famous monuments such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, making the congress not only an educational but also a culturally enriching experience.
The total number of participants was 264, of which 165 attended in person and 99 virtually. ESVO 2024 was a success not only because of the high quality scientific program, but also because of the perfect organization of our team led by Peter Svoboda. Thank you to all participants and we look forward to future editions!
