INTRODUCTION
In March, Bratislava became a centre of modern diagnostics. The prestigious conference “Ultrasound in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Slovakia” took place at the Sheraton Hotel, located just steps away from the Danube riverbank. The two-day event attracted leading professionals in the field from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Austria. By combining intensive practical workshops with a comprehensive lecture programme, the conference reaffirmed its role as a key educational platform, bringing the latest findings directly into daily clinical practice.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
The programme was strategically divided into two parts. The first day was dedicated to practical workshops focused on hands-on training, where participants, under the guidance of international tutors, practised advanced ultrasound settings, 3D volumetry, and the diagnostics of deep infiltrating endometriosis. The opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and consult procedures with experts such as Dr Hašlík and Dr Dankovčík was one of the highlights of the opening day.
The main conference programme was subsequently opened by Prof. Jozef Záhumenský, and the lecture blocks covered the entire spectrum of the field – from first-trimester prenatal diagnostics and the issue of facial cleft defects to the management of placenta accreta. A significant part of the programme was devoted to neurosonography and fetal echocardiography, with top experts such as Prof. Gregor Kasprian from Vienna and Dr Rafał Brawura-Biskupski-Samaha from Warsaw sharing their knowledge and advancements. Gynaecological sonography was also prominently featured, with an emphasis on the differential diagnosis of adnexal lesions, developmental anomalies of the uterus, and the specifics of ultrasound in children and adolescents. A novel and highly appreciated feature of the programme was the opportunity for personal consultations regarding the vaccination of pregnant women, which took place directly within the exhibition area. Furthermore, the entire event was included in the CME credit system, underlining its high scientific standard.
SOCIAL PROGRAMME AND NETWORKING
The attractive location of the Sheraton Hotel, situated by the Danube riverbank and the Eurovea shopping centre, provided an ideal setting for informal meetings. The demanding scientific programme was followed by a joint dinner held in a friendly and welcoming spirit. Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss complex case studies, and establish new professional contacts in a relaxed atmosphere outside the lecture halls.
CONCLUSION
The Ultrasound in Slovakia 2026 conference demonstrated that modern medicine cannot do without precise diagnostics and the continuous sharing of experience across borders. Thanks to the meticulous organisation by the team from the 2nd Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the University Hospital Bratislava and the support of partners, an event was created that motivates doctors towards further professional growth and provides practical knowledge applicable from the very next working day.
Our thanks go to all the speakers for their inspiring contributions and to the participants for their active involvement in the discussions. We would also like to express our gratitude to our organising team, led by Project Manager Simona Krasničanová. We are already looking forward to the next edition.
