INTRODUCTION
The meeting of the European Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ESVO) took place from October 2–5, 2025, in the Belgian city of Ghent, marking the festive occasion of the society’s 40th anniversary. More than 200 participants from across Europe and overseas gathered at the NH Collection Gent Belfort Hotel to combine professional education with personal interaction in the historic setting of one of Belgium’s most charming cities. The ESVO Meeting was also held online, attracting an additional 100 virtual delegates.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
The main theme of this year’s event was feline ophthalmology, with lecture sessions led by world-renowned experts including Dr. David Maggs, Dr. Adolfo Guandalini, Dr. Ron Ofri, and Dr. Seth Koch. Great interest was also shown in the hands-on workshops focusing on glaucoma surgery, intraocular prostheses, and electroretinography, all of which were fully booked before the event began. Participants gained valuable knowledge through lectures, discussions, and practical sessions. A new feature this year was the introduction of online posters, allowing virtual attendees to appreciate and evaluate the scientific contributions of their colleagues.

SOCIAL PROGRAMME
The scientific content was complemented by a rich social programme that offered participants the chance to experience the beauty of Ghent and Belgian hospitality. The welcome evening featured a cocktail with sponsors, a guided tour of Sint-Baafskathedraal, and a Belgian beer tasting at the Glengarry PUB. The highlight of the event was the Gala Dinner at SGOL restaurant, where guests enjoyed a traditional three-course Belgian menu accompanied by a DJ, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

CONCLUSION
The ESVO Meeting 2025 reaffirmed its reputation as one of the leading events in the field of veterinary ophthalmology. By combining top-tier education, inspiring interactions, and a friendly atmosphere, it provided a platform that strengthened the professional community and fostered new connections and ideas for future collaboration.
