Introduction
From September 29 to 30, 2025, Prague transformed into the epicenter of global gynecologic oncology. The prestigious congress SAGO 2025 – State of the Art in Gynecologic Oncology took place at the Diplomat Hotel, welcoming dozens of leading experts from across Europe and beyond. Under the leadership of Prof. David Cibula, the event offered a top-tier scientific program, live demonstrations of clinical practice, and inspiring international collaboration.
Main Section – Scientific Program
The Prague meeting provided not only a platform for sharing experience but above all, an intensive professional program that covered the key topics shaping modern gynecologic oncology.
The scientific part opened with a session on diagnostics and disease staging, chaired by Daniela Fischerová and Lukáš Lambert, emphasizing the rational use of imaging methods – ultrasound, PET, and MRI – for lymph node evaluation and staging of pelvic tumors.
This was followed by a session dedicated to systemic treatment of ovarian cancer, presenting the latest findings in molecular testing of BRCA, HRD, and HRR, the importance of biomarkers, and opportunities for maintenance therapy.
A strong response came from the session on surgical treatment of early-stage disease, reflecting changes following the SHAPE study and highlighting new standards in sentinel lymph node biopsy.
Between sessions, participants enjoyed short fitness breaks led by a professional instructor – a welcome refreshment during a demanding scientific day.
The congress concluded with presentations on immunotherapy and endocrine treatment, led by Radek Špíšek and Jitka Fučíková, showcasing the transition toward personalized medicine in gynecologic oncology.
A unique highlight of the event was the live demonstration of ultrasound examinations, offering an exclusive opportunity to observe state-of-the-art diagnostics in real time.
As a special extension of the event, a Clinical Day was held on October 1 at the General University Hospital in Prague, where selected participants experienced “a day in clinical reality” with the multidisciplinary gynecologic oncology team.
Conslusion
SAGO 2025 reaffirmed its status as a key event in European gynecologic oncology. The high scientific standard, open discussions on emerging trends, and friendly atmosphere made it an inspiring meeting for all those striving for innovation and better care for patients with gynecologic malignancies.
Once again, Prague proved to be a place where science, clinical practice, and humanity come together to form the medicine of the future.
Participants left with enthusiasm – already looking forward to the next edition in 2027.
