Chemical Ecology Back in Prague: Successful 39th ISCE 2024 Meeting

The 39th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Chemical Ecology (ISCE) was held from 14 to 18 July 2024 at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. The Congress was held in Prague for the second time and therefore carried the slogan: “Chemical Ecology Returns to Prague”.

The ISCE 2024 meeting attracted leading scientists in the field of chemical ecology and covered a wide range of topics from insect-plant interactions to biochemistry and ecological applications. The scientific programme offered over 50 hours of lectures and poster presentations. The programme consisted of 21 symposia held in three parallel sessions, plenary lectures and poster presentations.

In addition to the scientific programme, participants could also enjoy a rich social part. On Wednesday, an organised tour of the historical centre of Prague was prepared for those interested, during which they could admire the iconic sights of the city, such as Prague Castle, Charles Bridge or Old Town Square. At the end of the event, an excursion to the Czech forests affected by bark beetle took place, allowing participants to see the practical impact of the ecological problems discussed during the lectures.

Special thanks to the project manager Kristýna Bernerová and her organizing team for their professional approach and flawless preparation of this prestigious meeting. Their efforts ensured that the scientific and social part of the congress was held at the highest level and allowed participants from all over the world to establish new contacts and enrich their knowledge.
